Enough

Would you say you have “enough”?
Enough time, enough energy, enough money. Many of us have experienced the thought of, “if I only had more (fill in the blank), then I could…”
I would say that most of us battle this belief regarding our money. We may not speak it out loud, but in our hearts, we feel that we never have enough. The Bible says in Proverbs that “As a man (or woman) thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7), so, therefore, we walk around with a scarcity mindset in our hearts and minds regarding money, and that leads to the belief that we must continually strive for more, and that we’ll never truly be happy, as long as we are “lacking”.
But let’s check our hearts - because they sometimes lie to us.
Mindsets can be changed.

What is it that you value that drives this desire for more? Comparison with others? Fear of the future? Desire for ease of life?
The Bible tells us straight-up that wealth does not bring happiness. Ecclesiastes 5:10-12 says, “He who loves money shall never have enough. The foolishness of thinking that wealth brings happiness! The more you have, the more you spend, right up to the limits of your income, so what is the advantage of wealth - except perhaps to watch it as it runs through your fingers!”
Ponder on that for a moment - if the love of money is at the root - then you will never have enough.
Again - Mindsets can be changed.
We must renew our minds through focusing on Scripture and what really matters in life. That Ecclesiastes passage goes on to say, “The man who works hard, sleeps well whether he eats little or much”, and then even says that “the rich must worry and suffer insomnia”! Often there’s more stress that accompanies a lifestyle that takes constant high-intensity work to maintain, and “an insatiable appetite for more will push you to the point of regret.” (Housel, The Psychology of Money)
“A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness.” (Einstein)
There is a satisfaction and contentment that comes with focusing on how much you already have. A job that provides sufficiently and offers time for the people in life that really matter. A calling from the Lord to work hard and serve Him in whatever area He has called you to.
Pray that God will renew your mind and change your mindset.
“Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, cease from your consideration of it. When you set your eyes on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes itself wings, like an eagle that flies toward the heavens.” (Proverbs 23:4-5)
